Shoulder Pain

Autoimmune maladies can present a daunting task in terms of their identification and treatment. Such disorders arise when the immune system erroneously assaults healthy cells within the body, which results in inflammation and the detriment of tissue and organs. At the Buffalo Arthritis & Joint Pain Center, we are well-versed in the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), lupus, and psoriatic arthritis.

RA is a persistent autoimmune disease that predominantly targets the joints. Its symptoms include agony, rigidity, and swelling within the joints, particularly those in the hands, wrists, and feet. RA can also prompt weariness, fever, and a loss of weight.

Lupus is yet another autoimmune malady that can afflict diverse bodily systems, including the skin, joints, and organs. Its symptoms may encompass a rash on the face, joint pain, weariness, and fever.

Psoriatic arthritis is a class of arthritis that can develop in certain individuals who have psoriasis, a skin disorder that causes red, scaly patches. Psoriatic arthritis symptoms may include joint pain, rigidity, and swelling, as well as nail alterations and weariness.

At the Buffalo Arthritis & Joint Pain Center, we take a comprehensive approach to treating autoimmune disorders.  We work in tandem with each patient to formulate an individualized treatment plan that caters to their specific requirements and objectives. Autoimmune issues can be difficult to manage, but with the right therapy and support, one can control their symptoms and improve their quality of life. At the Buffalo Arthritis & Joint Pain Center, we are committed to helping our patients with autoimmune disorders attain optimal health and well-being.

Welcome to Buffalo Arthritis & Joint Pain Center! Here are some of the most common causes of shoulder pain.  Let's dive in!

  • Rotator cuff injuries: The rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons that attach the shoulder blade to the upper arm bone. Overuse, injury, or age-related wear and tear can cause damage to the rotator cuff, leading to pain and weakness in the shoulder. Treatment for rotator cuff injuries may include rest, physical therapy, and in some cases, surgery.
  • Frozen shoulder: Also known as adhesive capsulitis, frozen shoulder is a condition in which the shoulder joint becomes stiff and painful, making it difficult to move the arm. This condition can be caused by injury, surgery, or even just age-related wear and tear. Treatment for frozen shoulder may include physical therapy, medication, and in some cases, surgery.
  • Shoulder impingement syndrome: This condition occurs when the tendons in the shoulder become inflamed and rub against the bone, causing pain and weakness in the shoulder. Shoulder impingement syndrome can be caused by overuse, injury, or even just poor posture. Treatment for shoulder impingement syndrome may include rest, physical therapy, and in some cases, surgery.
  • Arthritis: Arthritis is a condition that causes inflammation and pain in the joints. The shoulder joint can be affected by different types of arthritis, including osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Treatment for arthritis may include medication, physical therapy, and joint injections.
  • Shoulder instability: Shoulder instability occurs when the shoulder joint is loose and can dislocate or slip out of place easily. This condition can be caused by injury or overuse, and can cause pain and weakness in the shoulder often leading to shoulder surgery. Treatment for shoulder instability may include physical therapy and in some cases, surgery.
